Centro de Excelencia de Software Libre de Castilla-La Mancha

 Organization

The Center for Excellence of Free Software of Castilla-La Mancha is a center sponsored by the Board of Community of Castilla-La Mancha in collaboration with the Foundation Science and Technology Park of Albacete, the Federation of TIC companies in Castilla-La Mancha (FEDETICAM), and two leading companies in the TIC sector, such as Telefónica and Sun Microsystems. It also has the support of the University of Castilla-La Mancha.

Its essential function is to act as a dynamic element and diffuser of Free Software in Castilla-La Mancha, providing information and advice to governments and businesses to include in your organization’s information system. TIC Companies that decide to join the business model of Free Software, will find this appropriate assistance center that will allow them to access the best available free software solutions with the ability to adapt to the type of problem you want solved.

Responsible

The Center has the direction of Juan Carlos Martinez-Falero sang, branch management degree in computer science from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 1992. It also has by ISACA Information Systems Audit and Control Association two most prestigious certifications worldwide within the scope of audit and security informatics: CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) and CISM (Certified Information Security Management) and by the SEI Software Engineering Institute basic certification for CMMI (most spread model internationally for optimizing processes at the organizational level). He has worked for over 18 years in areas such as Information Systems Director of Information Technology departments in different organizations simultaneously performing information security audits and Act on Data Protection).

Services and products

The Center revolves around the project called PASCAL (Action Plan for Free Software Castilla-La Mancha), which consists of 6 programs:

  • Portalos: Web Portal. Technological observatory and repository of free software. http://www.ceslcam.com
  • Formados Training and dissemination free software concept in the region. Telematics platform linked to the spread of free software and Molinux. http://formados.ceslcam.com
  • Solidarios: Social action with free software and reusable equipment. Development of distribution for teams with few resources, Molinux Zero.
  • Certios: Creating Cluster ICT companies in areas of free software business certifications and applications of free software. Security Certifications ICT user companies.
  • Ticos: Support for ICT companies in the region to adopt business models based on free software. http://ticos.ceslcam.com

Besides these programs, from early 2008 the CESLCAM is responsible for Project Coordination Molinux regional distribution GNU / Linux, which currently presents version 5.0.

Among the possible lines of collaboration highlight: Dissemination of the project and free software (Molinux) among potential users, support users and software companies, certification and development of projects related to information technologies based on open sources.

The objective of OpenOffice.org Español is a distributed community throughout Spain and Latin America that works within the global project of OpenOffice.org to promote the international growth in use and popularity of the office suite and to advocate for the innovation and development of open standards and free software.

OpenOffice.org Español, under the initiative “Open for Business”, creates a sustainable business model for the community, offering value added services under a better business connection.

OpenOffice.org Español is an organization with operation across the regions. The global lead is Alexandro Colorado who maintains connections with each country’s marketing contact to support local activities.

Ismael Fanlo, responsible for Spain Marketing is an expert trainer in office technology and has presented several lectures, conferences and workshops on OpenOffice.org throughout Spain.

SOLIS – Free and Open Source Software CoOperative

1. Background
Solis is a Free and Open Source Software solutions and services co-operative. Solis was formed as part of regional development project lead by Univates, an University Center located in the city of Lajeado, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the southernmost state of Brazil. Originally, Solis’ members were students, professors and former members of Univates’ IT department. Today Solis employs 51 collaborators, including computer engineers, systems analysts and administrators.
2. Solutions
Solis develops and integrates free and open source software products when building a complete solution for its customers. When doing this, Solis takes in consideration the always growing need of
Information and Communication Technologies as the strategic support for its customers. Solus is always in focus with the customer’s own market and business, preserving previous investments and building solutions that are trustworthy and expandable. As a result, Solis’ customers become more competitive, technology independent and empowered by the freedom of choice.
Besides offering a full range of solutions for educational institutions, government and corporations, Solis also develops solutions specifically tailored to the needs of its customers and designs and manages systems migration to free and open source software based solutions.
Solis includes in its solutions, along with products developed by the co-operative, other free and open source software made available by the development community. Among these community products used by Solis are the GNU/Linux operating system, the OpenOffice.Org office suite and web services such as apache.
Solis offers installation services, technical support and training for all of the solutions it delivers. Network infrastructure services, including email security, environment management are also services offered by Solis so the customer’s can consider Solis a one-stop shop for all of its IT needs.
Solis also provides consulting services for a wide variety of systems and products provided by the free and open source software development community.

Internet Web Serveis

1. Background

Internet Web Serveis (IWS) is a SMB located in Lleida, a 150 km from Barcelona, Spain. With 15 years of experience in the market our initial business focus was as a pure ISP, but with the time we offer the same usual services plus consulting, design and development of any kind of Internet related aplications. We have two CPD were we host all the aplications we develop for our clients, mainly SMB, big companies and the administration of the hole Spain, having also clients worldwide.

We always invest in I+D+I trying to be introducing new products and services to have a renewed offer, more than the usual web portal design, CMS, e-commerce, intranet, and so on. Mobility is one of the focus that we believe more on.

Our technical karma resides on Linux and Open Source aplications, we do not develop for Windows, but we do some for Mac platform when doing iPhone aplications in our mobility area.

2. Services and Product

Our organization offers two diferentiated service areas: one for ISP related, hosting servers and doing communication infrastructure for our clients, and the developing side, were we develop all kind of aplications based on standard open source tools as LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL and PHP), JAVA with Tomcat, and the client side regular techniques as XML, Javascript, Html and Flash.

We have some packetized products ready for installation with a minimum of service, but our main regular services are project based to fullfill every clients need.

3. Main Responsible

Andreu Ibanez is the responsible person for marketing and business development. With a large CV based on IT multinationals, as Olivetti and Commodore, his goal has been always on the open source movement, becoming always interested in help develop the spanish community, with charges in Hispalinux, main Spanish linux asociation, and Llug, the local user group and many more.

On the board of Morfeo from his beginnigs, he has focused on the mobility project, MyMobileWeb, doing business development and doing some of the best know succes cases, as Lleida.mobi, Lleida’s city council mobility channel for the citizens, and many more.
